Rolex 24 2017: Day 3

Race day is finally upon us! The day started out with the Heritage Exhibition where racecars from the '60s and on hit the track for a few passes to show that they've still got it.

At 2:30pm, the green flag dropped and the 2017 cars took off, all with one thing in mind: to stay in the race for the full 24 hours. Remember, this is endurance racing. It's not all about being the fastest (though that does help), it's about staying in the game until the very end.

The grueling race is off to a chilly start with weather dropping near the 40s, not something us Floridians are accustomed to. As day fades to night, the threat of rain is upon us, which should make for some spectacular racing! But only time will tell. Night racing is undoubtedly the best part of the 24 hours, and I cannot wait to get back on track and see it all go down! Stay tuned for my late night coverage after I hit the track again around 3am on Sunday to finish out the night and catch the sunrise.

Rolex 24 2017: Day 2

Day two began with a few practice sessions, followed by the BMW Endurance Challenge. New to the field this year were several eye-catching McLaren GT4s in the Grand Sport class. It was a short day with the race ending around 4pm, when a number of Porsches placed at the top of of the GS class, putting the newcomers in their place.

Rolex 24 2016: Day 1

The time is FINALLY here! I've been waiting since the end of last year for the day I'd be back in Daytona for the Rolex 24, and here I am! Day one was full of qualifying and ended with some night practice for the WeatherTech Challenge cars. During the day I was able to catch up with some of my favorite drivers and teams and hear their predictions for the race. Overall Thursday was a great start to the weekend!
Here's a small photo recap of the day - enjoy!

Rolex 24 Through The Years

The 55th Annual Rolex 24 at Daytona starts in exactly two weeks, and I couldn't be more excited. This will be my fifth year attending, so I thought it might be fitting to post up some of my favorite shots from the previous years. Keep an eye out on here and on www.LoweredLifestyle.com for my coverage of this year's event!
